We are very proud to have a talented group of the very best veterinarians in our region. Please feel to contact them with any questions that you might have through our office. Each vet is accomplished in his/her practice and specializes in specific portions of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Christine Hartwig

Dr. Christine Hartwig, DVM

Graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison

Dr. Hartwig and her husband, Scott are the current owners of Delavan Lakes Veterinary Clinic, which was established in 1979. Dr. Hartwig has a special interest in ultrasonography, echocardiology, rabbit medicine, and surgery.

Dr. Hartwig also volunteers her time and services to Fellow Mortals, a wildlife rehabilitation center, and is an official veterinarian for the House Rabbit Society of Wisconsin.   Scott is proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the Lakeland Animal Welfare Society.

In their free time, the Hartwigs enjoy their children and family.  Their pets include two Australian Shepherds named Josie and Jackson, a Welsh Pembroke Corgi named Bonnie, and their cat Wheezy. On their farm, they also enjoy their  Appaloosa horses named Mystic Mighty Bold (Mighty), Mystic PD (PD),  Mystic Simi Rose (Rosie), and Santa Fe Dreamer (Dream).   Also their Quarterhorse named Inlaid Pleasure (Sienna), minature horse Suzu, and their donkey Applejack (AJ).

Dr. Laura Jens

Dr. Laura Jens, DVM

Graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison

Dr. Jens has been with Delavan Lakes Veterinary Clinic since 1999. She has extensive training in cytology and a special interest in internal medicine. In 2008, Dr. Jens attended the University of Tennessee to study canine rehabilitative medicine. Later that year she founded Madison Canine Rehabilitation.
Her husband Bruce is also a veterinarian and hospital administrator in Madison. Their pets include Mary –a spunky Boston Terrier, and 2 cats – Icabod and Gimpy. Dr. Jens volunteers at Ronald McDonald House and enjoys reading, traveling, and visiting wineries.

Dr. Betty Lee

Dr. Betty Lee, DVM

Graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison

Dr. Lee is a 2001 graduate of UW-Madison. Before joining Delavan Lakes Veterinary Clinic, she spent seven years as a mixed animal doctor in Janesville. Dr. Lee enjoys soft tissue surgery and preventative medicine, but wishes to pursue further study in veterinary herbal medicine.

Her family includes husband David, Charlie – a Welsh Pembroke Corgi, Ginger, their Labrador Retriever, and numerous farm animals. In her free time, Dr. Lee enjoys gardening, farming with draft horses, baking, antiquing, and amateur photography.

Dr. Maura G. O'Brien

Dr. Maura G. O’Brien, DVM, DACVS

Graduate of the University of Florida. Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. O’Brien graduated from the University of Florida in 1987. After completing a three-year residency in small animal surgery at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and Angell Memorial Hospital in Massachusetts, Dr. O’Brien was accepted as a Fellow in Surgical Oncology at Colorado State University of Veterinary Medicine in 1993.

Dr. O’Brien has extensive small animal surgical experience. She spent eight years in Southern California, two years in Wisconsin, and then moved to Colorado and Wyoming, where she opened a mobile veterinary surgery practice known as Orchard Road Veterinary Surgery, Inc. In 2006, Dr. O’Brien relocated her mobile surgery practice to Madison, WI.

As a board certified traveling surgeon, Dr. O’Brien has been performing a variety of advanced orthopedic, neurological, and soft tissue surgery here at the clinic on an ‘on-call’ basis for several years.

Dr. Maura G. O'BrienDr. O’Brien lives in Madison with her husband Dr. David Vail, DVM, DACVIM, who is a Professor of Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-SVM. Dr. O’Brien enjoys horseback riding, gardening, and spending time with her people family and her pet family of dogs, cats, and horses.
